Course Info:
Swim: The swim takes place in beautiful Raineybrook bay in the southern border of Lafayette, Indiana. The swim is a smooth, clean, and clear water course that takes athletes on a long but fun loop. Water temperature is typically 72 degrees. Wetsuits are legal!
Bike: The bike takes athletes on the rolling hills of Tippecanoe County. The course stays in Tippecanoe County and also travels through its beautiful farm land. Expect windy conditions in this midwest city. Directional arrows provide ease when riding the course.
Run: The final stage of the race is an amazing run that takes athletes around Raineybrook Bay and through an exciting loop that extends into a housing development. The run itself is two loops and ends near the transition area. Plenty of volunteers provide a smooth race with help while you are on the course.
Directions From Lafayette and West Lafayette:
Take 26 E from West Lafayette and 26 W from Lafayette to US231 (aka South River Rd., the light by McDonald's, Bruno's, Triple XXX, and the new River Market). Turn South onto US 231. Continue down 231 over the Wabash and through the light at Hwy. 25. The next light (3rd since you turned off of 26) is CR 500S. To get to the race site, turn right and it is about 1 mile on the right. To get to parking on race day turn left at the light and left at the first stop sign. Parking is at McCutcheon HS which will be on your right.
Travel Time: approximately 10-15 minutes from where you turn off of 26 and onto 231.
Directions From Indy:
Take I-74W to US 231. Exit onto US 231 (this is where the Crawfordsville Hotels are located) and proceed North on US231 until you reach CR 500S (approximately 18.5 miles, there is a light at this intersection). Rainybrook Bay is approximately 1 mile west of US 231 on 500S, but parking will be at McCutcheon High School. So, to get to McCutcheon HS turn right onto CR 500S and then turn left at the next stop sign (CR 100E) and McCutcheon will be on your right. Park there and a shuttle will be transporting people between there and Raineybrook Bay. If you want a nice little warm up it's only about 1.5 miles straight down 500S (back across US 231) to the lake!
Total Mileage: approximately 60 miles from the intersection of I-74 and I-465 (W side of Indy).
Directions From Chicago:
Take I-65S until you get to Hwy 43 (if you get to exit 175, Hwy 25, you went just a little too far). Take Hwy 43 South Through West Lafayette. Hwy 43 turns into US 231 and takes you over the new bridge. Just continue to follow US 231 S until you reach the stop light at CR 500S (approximately 5 miles from the bridge over the Wabash River). Again, Raineybrook Bay is about 1mile to the right down 500S, but we are parking at McCutcheon HS. So turn left onto 500S and then left at the first stop sign onto 100E. McCutcheon HS is on your right. Park there and wait for the shuttle to pick you up and take you to the lake or walk/ride the 1.5 miles down 500S (back across US 231) to the lake.
Total Mileage: approximately 130 miles from downtown Chicago.
Directions From Champain:
Take I-74E to US 231. From here the directions are the same as the ones from Indy.
Total Mileage: approximately 94 miles from the intersection of I-57 and I-74
